Scholarship Application for Houston
Single Mom Scholars Houston accepts applications from low-income, single mothers actively enrolled in health science–related associate’s or bachelor’s degree programs who reside in Houston. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and evaluated through a highly competitive process based on individual need and essay responses.
The number of nursing and health science students selected each year depends on available funding from our generous donors. Selected applicants are contacted directly by Single Mom Scholars, and all applications are kept on file for future consideration.
Please note: Certification-only programs are not eligible for this program.
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Be actively enrolled in a health science–related associate’s or bachelor’s degree program
(Certification only programs are not eligible) -
Have completed at least one college semester within the past 12 months with a minimum GPA of 2.8

Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident

Reside in Houston, Texas

Have at least one child living with you that is under the age of 16

Have an adjusted gross income at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines

Be legally single or divorced and not living with a domestic partner

Be willing to participate in the organization’s Single Mom College Community meetings (6 meetings per year)

Agree to follow all program guidelines
